9:00 am  Sign ups for Orchid plant registration

for AOS judging begins. 

Festival Officially Opens at 10 am

 

Greenhouse tours begin at 10:00 am, and run every thirty minutes throughout the day.  Tour guides will provide a delightful trip through the orchid growing grounds. See first hand thousands of gorgeous orchid blooms.  Learn how these gems of the flower world are produced, grown, and shipped throughout the world.  Witness the orchids in the bottle!  Smell the chocolate orchids.

 

10: 00 am  Greenhouse tours begin.

Registration closes for Orchid Judging. 

Art Show , presented by Chaparal Artists, opens.

10:05 am  American Orchid Society  Ribbon Judging Begins. Three certified AOS judges will be judging  entries. Presented by the Riverside and San Bernardino County Orchid Society

10:30 am The Orchid Society of Arizona will be presenting a class on Phalaenopsis the Learning Center (16 yrs and up).  This is a hands on demonstration. Participants will learn about orchids, and will transplant a blooming Orchid into a six-inch pot. There is a $15.00 charge for the class, which includes a blooming orchid for you to bring home. Proceeds go to the Arizona Orchid Society’s education fund. Class size is limited, Sign Up here. 

10:30 am The Official unveiling of the Sharry Baby Orchid Beer By The Joshua Tree Brewing Company.  JT Brewing has been very generous to the Orchid Festival.  Beer Tasting begins.  Taste five different beers for $10.00 

 

10:45- First performance of the Yucca Valley High School Jazz Band. Conducted by Instructor Mr. Bill Barret. This will be there first performance of the season.  Click here for more information on the YV Jazz Band. 

 

10:45 am  Yucca Valley Sunset Rotary Wine and Cheese Tasting opens.  Savor the flavor of five different cheeses, and the refreshing tastes of six different wines.  All this for a $15.00 cover charge, which includes a commemorative Orchid Festival wine glass.  You can also purchase your favorite wine by the glass for $5. To compliment your wine, a plate of assorted fruit, cheeses and crackers is available for $5.00.

11:15 am  Lunch is now available for purchase.  Enjoy pulled pork sandwiches, Shrimp cocktail (limited supply), Carne Asada plates, hamburgers with all the fixens, chili dogs, hot dogs, chips and cold drinks available for purchase.

12:00 pm  Adult Orchid class: Dendrobium and Oncidium orchids (16 years and up) presented by the Orchid Society of Arizona (OSA). This is a hands on demonstration. Participants will learn about orchids, and will transplant a blooming Orchid into a six-inch pot. There is a $15.00 charge for the class, which includes a blooming orchid for you to bring home.  Class size is limited, Sign Up here. 

1:30 pm  Adult Orchid Class- Cultivation and Care of Phalaenopsis Orchids, crowned the most popular orchid in the world. You will be learning about the care and cultivation of orchids.  You will be transplanting a blooming Phalaenopsis into a six-inch pot.  The orchid is for you to take home and enjoy.  There is a $15.00 charge for the class.  Proceeds benefit Arizona Orchid Society education fund. 3:00 pm  Adult Orchid Arrangement Class- Create and build your own orchid planter to take and enjoy at home. Your $25 fee includes two blooming orchids and a decorative ceramic container.  Growing and care instructions will be discussed for your new planter.  Proceeds benefit the Riverside/ San Bernardino County Orchid Society programs.  Click here to sign up.

2:00- 4:00 pm  Music continues.

 

4:30 pm The last orchid tour begins.

 

5:00 pm  The Festival closes for the day.

Sunday October 6th 2019

10:00 am  Festival Opens 

Greenhouse tours begin, Art & Orchid Show open.  The first 50 guests entering the Festival on Sunday will receive a FREE beautiful blooming orchid stem.

 

10:30 am  Yucca Valley Sunset Rotary Wine and Cheese Tasting opens.  Savor the flavor of five different cheeses, and the refreshing tastes of six different wines.  Beer tasting is getting underway with five different beers to taste.  

10:40 am  Jazz Band’s opening performance.

10:45 am  Adult Dendrobium & Oncidium Class (16 yrs. and up):

Presented by the Orchid Society of Arizona. (OSA), this is a hands on demonstration. Participants will learn all about orchids, and will transplant a blooming Orchid into a six-inch pot. There is a $15.00 charge for the class, which includes a blooming orchid for you to bring home. All the proceeds go to the Arizona Orchid Society’s education fund.
